Removal [07/2020 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [07/2020 - ]

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 05/2023]

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [07/2020 - 05/2023]

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR NO. 2 OPENING TRIM COVER RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  6. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 GLOVE COMPARTMENT PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 GLOVE COMPARTMENT PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [07/2020 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [10/2022 - 05/2023]

  9. REMOVE CONSOLE PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  10. REMOVE RADIO REMOTE TUNING SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  12. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  13. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  14. REMOVE BOX PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  15. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Deployment Side
    • When storing the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

      Remove in this Direction
      Place Hands Here

      Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration and pull toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claw and pull out the No. 2 lower instrument panel airbag assembly.

    5. Tilt the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the seat and support it with one hand.

    6. Disconnect the airbag connector.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      HINT: 

      Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector:

    7. Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, detach the clamp and remove the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      HINT: 

      Tape the thin-bladed screwdriver tip before use.
