Removal [07/2020 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 05/2023]

    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SEAL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SEAL RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  7. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17

  8. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  10. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [07/2020 - 05/2023]

  11. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  12. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  13. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSSMEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the bolt (A).

    2. Remove the bolt (B) and radiator support to crossmember brace sub-assembly RH.
  14. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT TO CROSSMEMBER BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt (A).

    2. Remove the bolt (B) and radiator support to crossmember brace sub-assembly LH.
  15. REMOVE AIR (WITH ELEMENT) CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER INLET 
    1. for RH side of vehicle:
      1. Detach the guide.

        *a Connector
      2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the connector.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply excessive force to the vacuum hose.

      3. Detach the clamp.

      4. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
    2. for LH side of vehicle:
      1. Detach the clamp.

      2. Disconnect the connector.
    3. Loosen the No. 2 air cleaner hose clamp.

      *a Clamp - -
      No. 2 Air Cleaner Hose Clamp - -
    4. Remove the air (with element) cleaner assembly with air cleaner inlet from the clamp.
    5. Remove the air (with element) cleaner assembly with air cleaner inlet from the air cleaner support.
      NOTE:

      When removing the air (with element) cleaner assembly with air cleaner inlet, be careful not to lose the air cleaner support on the underside of the air (with element) cleaner assembly with air cleaner inlet.

  16. REMOVE HOOD LOCK RELEASE LEVER PROTECTOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  17. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER RH 
    1. Detach the clamp and remove the hood lock control cable cover RH.

  18. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER LH

  19. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY

  20. REMOVE LOW PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY

  21. REMOVE LOWER ARM BRACKET BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and lower arm bracket brace sub-assembly RH.

  22. REMOVE LOWER ARM BRACKET BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and lower arm bracket brace sub-assembly LH.

  23. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT 
    1. Detach the clamp and disconnect the engine room main wire.

    2. Remove the 5 bolts.

      Radiator Support Cushion
      Remove in this Direction
    3. While lifting the upper radiator support upwards, detach the 2 radiator support cushions and remove the upper radiator support.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the upper radiator support, do not damage the cooler condenser assembly, sub radiator assembly and radiator assembly.

  24. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the hose clip and slide the hose clip to disconnect the radiator hose sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the sub radiator assembly or radiator hose sub-assembly.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  25. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the hose clip and slide the hose clip to disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose sub-assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the sub radiator assembly or No. 2 radiator hose sub-assembly.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  26. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY A 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect liquid tube sub-assembly A and No. 1 cooler refrigerant hose bracket from the cooler condenser assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not apply excessive force to the liquid tube sub-assembly A.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the liquid tube sub-assembly A.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  27. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly from the cooler condenser assembly.
      NOTE:

      Do not apply excessive force to the discharge hose sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  28. REMOVE COOLER CONDENSER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the claw.

    2. While lifting the cooler condenser assembly in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration, detach the guide and remove the cooler condenser assembly and sub radiator assembly.
      NOTE:
      • When removing the cooler condenser assembly and sub radiator assembly, do not damage the cooler condenser assembly, sub radiator assembly and radiator assembly.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts and sub radiator assembly from the cooler condenser assembly.
