Removal [09/2018 - 10/2020]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2017 - 10/2020]

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [10/2017 - 09/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [09/2019 - 10/2020]

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    WARNING:
    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2018 - 10/2020]

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  5. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  7. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  10. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    Deployment Side
    • When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.
    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts.

      Place Hands Here
      Remove in this Direction

      Place your hand at the location shown in the illustration and pull the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly toward the rear of the vehicle to detach the claw to remove it.

    5. While holding the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly with one hand, perform the following procedure.
      1. Detach the wire harness clamp.

        Push and release the lock
        Pull Out
      2. Detach the claw and disconnect the DLC3.
      3. Move the lock of the hood lock control lever in the direction indicated by the black arrow to release it, and then pull it out in the direction indicated by the white arrow.
      4. Using a screwdriver, release the lock button and disconnect the airbag connector.

        NOTE:

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        HINT: 

        Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
