Removal [08/2016 - 12/2017]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - 12/2017]

  2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

  3. REMOVE NO. 3 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  4. REMOVE NO. 6 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  5. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  6. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  7. INSTALL INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  8. INSTALL NO. 6 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19

  9. INSTALL NO. 3 INVERTER BRACKET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  10. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

  11. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  12. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  14. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  15. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  16. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  17. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose LH from the rear upper control arm assembly LH.

  18. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  19. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - 03/2018]

  20. SEPARATE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  21. SEPARATE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE WIRE ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  22. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
      NOTE:
      • Prevent foreign matter from contacting the sensor tip.
      • Clean the speed sensor installation hole and the contact surfaces every time the speed sensor is removed.
      • Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor LH.

    2. Remove the bolt and separate the rear speed sensor LH from the rear trailing arm assembly LH.

  23. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  24. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH (w/o AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor LH.
  25. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH (w/o AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the connector and disengage the 2 clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor RH.
  26. REMOVE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE LH (w/ AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts and rear skid control sensor wire LH.
  27. REMOVE REAR SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE RH (w/ AVS) 
    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors and disengage the 3 clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts and rear skid control sensor wire RH.
  28. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  29. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  30. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  31. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  32. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  33. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  34. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  35. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  36. REMOVE REAR LOWER COIL SPRING INSULATOR RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  37. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7

  38. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  39. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Using a transmission jack and wooden block, support the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the bolt, nut and rear lower suspension member stopper.

    3. Using a transmission jack and a wooden block, support the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

    4. Remove the nut (A) and spacer.
    5. Remove the bolt (B), nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly and rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

    6. Temporarily install the rear lower suspension member stopper with the bolt and nut.

  40. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  41. SEPARATE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and nut and separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  42. SEPARATE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  43. SEPARATE NO. 3 FLOOR WIRE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disengage the 3 clamps to separate the No. 3 floor wire from rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  44. DISCONNECT HV FLOOR UNDER WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  45. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using an engine lifter, 2 attachments and 2 wooden blocks or equivalent tools, support the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:
      • The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
      • If the rear suspension member sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.

      NOTE:

      Use attachments and wooden blocks to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts, 2 rear lower suspension braces, rear lower suspension member stopper LH and rear lower suspension member stopper RH.
    3. Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

  46. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - 12/2017]

  47. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  48. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER 
    1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  49. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  50. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  51. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 
    1. Using SST, remove the differential mount cushion from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      • SST: 09570-48010

      NOTE:
      • Apply grease to the threads of the SST center bolt before use.
      • Install the SST bolts straight and tighten them equally.
  52. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

    3. Using SST, remove the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion while applying grease into the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      • SST: 09830-10010

      NOTE:
      • Set the claws of SST onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly securely as shown in the illustration.
      • Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
      • The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  53. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  54. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION LH 
    1. Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH rib.
      NOTE:

      Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.

    2. Install SST as shown in the illustration.

    4. Remove SST and the rear suspension member rear body mount cushion LH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
  55. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  56. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 12 hole plugs from the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
