Removal [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    Refer to BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY [10/2023 - ]

  2. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSMISSION 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  3. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 1) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  5. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  6. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  7. REMOVE NO. 4 TURBO INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 TURBO INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  9. REMOVE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. REMOVE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  11. LOOSEN FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  12. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  13. DISCONNECT FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 141

  14. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 142

  15. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 143

  16. DISCONNECT NO. 2 ENGINE WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  17. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE STAY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  18. REMOVE STARTER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  19. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  20. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER 
    1. Remove the flywheel housing side cover from the engine assembly.
  21. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

      Transmission Wire Connector Pull Down the Lever

      HINT: 

      Disconnect the claw, pull down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector

    2. Disconnect the wire harness connector.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the wire harness from the automatic transmission assembly with transfer.
  22. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE WITH OIL COOLER HOSE 
    1. Slide the 2 hose clips and disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the automatic transmission assembly with transfer.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the oil cooler tube from the engine assembly and automatic transmission assembly with transfer.

      HINT: 

      When removing the automatic transmission assembly with transfer, hold the oil cooler tube in a position so that the oil cooler tube and automatic transmission assembly with transfer do not interfere with one another.

  23. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER SETTING BOLT 
    1. Remove the crankshaft damper sub-assembly.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    2. Remove the 6 drive plate and torque converter setting bolts from the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      Turn the crankshaft to a position where the drive plate and torque converter setting bolts can be removed, and remove the drive plate and torque converter setting bolts while securing the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

  24. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER

      Nut and Spring Washer

      Remove the nut, spring washer and 2 bolts and disconnect the throttle link connecting rod assembly from the shift control actuator assembly.

    2. Remove the 3 nuts and engine rear mounting member.

  25. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear engine mounting insulator.

  26. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT HEAT INSULATOR

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and propeller shaft heat insulator from the automatic transmission assembly with transfer.
  27. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSFER 
    1. Using a rope or equivalent, support the automatic transmission assembly with transfer at the positions shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:

      Secure the engine assembly to the engine lifter using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.

    2. Remove the 11 bolts and automatic transmission assembly with transfer.

      WARNING:
      • Do not raise the automatic transmission assembly with transfer more than necessary.
      • Make sure to confirm the center of the gravity of the automatic transmission assembly with transfer when supporting it.
      NOTE:
      • Do not use excessive force to pry out the automatic transmission assembly with transfer when separating it from the engine assembly to prevent the knock pins from being damaged.
      • When removing the automatic transmission assembly with transfer, make sure that the oil cooler tube does not become damaged.
      • Do not allow the wooden blocks or equivalent to contact the transmission oil pan assembly when supporting the automatic transmission assembly with transfer, as the transmission oil pan assembly may be deformed as a result.
  28. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Put matchmarks on the automatic transmission assembly with transfer and torque converter assembly.

    2. Remove the torque converter assembly from the automatic transmission assembly with transfer.
  29. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY 

    See step  1

  30. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    There is no need to remove this unless the transfer assembly is replaced.
