Removal [08/2016 - 03/2018]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PRECAUTION [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  2. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4 [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  9. DISCONNECT HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  10. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  11. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [10/2015 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  12. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [10/2015 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ORNAMENT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2015 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  14. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT FINISH PANEL SUB 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [12/2017 - 03/2018]

  15. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    Deployment Side
    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts.

      *a Hook
      *b Guide
    4. Disengage the 3 claws, hook and 2 guides to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When separating the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

      *a Protective Tape
      *b Airbag Connector
      *c Airbag Connector Lock

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    6. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
