Removal [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  4. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 

    See step  1, or see step  1

  6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ] ).

  8. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  9. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt.

    2. Detach the plate as shown in the illustration.
    3. Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the tube.
      • Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.
    4. Remove the 2 O-rings from the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
  10. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater water outlet hose A.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the heater water outlet hose A.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  11. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE A

    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater water inlet hose A.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the heater water inlet hose A.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  12. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND BRACKET 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  14. REMOVE CENTER HEATER TO RESISTOR DUCT

    1. Remove the 3 clips and remove the center heater to resistor duct.
  15. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO RESISTOR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 3 clips and remove the No. 1 heater to resistor duct sub-assembly.
  16. REMOVE METER MIRROR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  17. REMOVE HEATER TO RESISTOR DUCT ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2. Detach the 4 claws and remove the heater to resistor duct assembly.
  18. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the clip.
    2. Detach the 2 claws and remove the No. 3 air duct sub-assembly.
  19. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  20. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the screw and remove the No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.
  21. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the screw and remove the No. 2 air duct sub-assembly.
  22. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the 3 connectors.
    2. Remove the screw.

      Remove the air conditioning amplifier assembly as shown in the direction indicated by the arrow mark.

  23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Remove the nuts, bolts, junction block and ground wire.
    2. Disconnect the clamps, connectors and instrument panel wire.

  24. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD CAP

    1. Put protective tape around the instrument panel safety pad cap.
    2. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the 4 instrument panel safety pad caps.

  25. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING HOSE AND ACCESSORY (w/ Cool Box)

    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Using SST, remove the piping clamp.
      • SST: 09870-00025 
      1. Attach SST to the piping clamp.

        HINT: 

        Confirm the direction of the piping clamp claw and SST by referring to the illustration on the caution label.

      2. Push down SST and release the clamp lock.

        NOTE:

        Be careful not to deform the tubes when pushing SST.

      3. Pull SST slightly and push the release lever, then remove the piping clamp with SST.
      4. Remove the piping clamp from SST.
    3. Remove the hose and accessory from the liquid tube.
      NOTE:

      Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.

    4. Remove the 2 O-rings from the air conditioning hose and accessory.

  26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
    • When removing the air conditioning unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
    1. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement.
      1. for Engine Room Side:

        Remove the grommet.

      2. for Engine Room Side:

        Remove the bolt

      3. for Driver Side:

        Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts.

      4. for Driver Side:

        Remove the bolt.

      5. for Passenger Side:

        Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts.

        HINT: 

        When removing the bolts, the collars may come off with the bolts.

      6. for Passenger Side:

        Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 collars.

      7. for Passenger Side:

        Remove the 2 nuts.

      8. Remove the 3 bolts.

    1. Remove the 4 bolts, screw and air conditioning unit assembly.
