DTC P0778: Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SL2) [06/2014 - 08/2015]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the transmission.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Transmission Wire)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (SL2+) - 2 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (SL2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SL2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission connector to the transmission.
    2. Disconnect the F1 connector from the ECM.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F1-14 (SL2+) - F1-13 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F1-14 (SL2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F1-13 (SL2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  3. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 
    1. Remove the shift solenoid valve SL2.

      *a Shift Solenoid Valve SL2
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2 of the solenoid valve connector, then check the movement of the valve.

      OK

      The solenoid makes an operating sound.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2. Refer to  COMPONENTS [04/2013 - 08/2015]
