Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • w/ Navigation System:

      After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Condition Waiting Time
      Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
      Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2021 - 08/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2022 - ] ).
  3. REMOVE EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the EGR valve (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [08/2020 - ]

  5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [08/2020 - ]

  6. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  7. REMOVE WATER PIPE AND HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Single Air Conditioning System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35 [08/2020 - ]

  8. REMOVE WATER PIPE AND HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Dual Air Conditioning System) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 36 [08/2020 - ]

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS PIPE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass pipe.

  10. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the ventilation pipe of the cylinder head cover LH and RH.

    2. Remove the bolt and ventilation hose.
  11. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  12. REMOVE AIR TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector and detach the clamp.

    2. Detach the 2 wire harness clamps from the air tube bracket.
    3. Disconnect the No. 2 air injection system hose from the air switching valve LH.
    4. Disconnect the No. 1 air injection system hose from the air switching valve RH.
    5. Disconnect the air hose from the air pump.
    6. Remove the 5 bolts and air tube.
  13. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose.

    2. Disconnect the throttle body connector.
    3. Disconnect the PCV valve hose.
    4. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    5. Disconnect the purge line hose from the purge VSV.
    6. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve connector (for ACIS).
    7. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness from the wire harness bracket.

    8. Detach the 3 wire harness clamps from the 3 wire harness brackets.
    9. Disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel delivery pipe (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    10. Disconnect the fuel tube from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    11. Remove the 2 nuts, 8 bolts, intake manifold and 2 gaskets.

  14. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and fuel tube from the intake manifold.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness brackets.
  15. REMOVE V-BANK COVER BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.

  16. REMOVE V-BANK COVER PIN 
    1. Remove the V-bank cover pin from the intake manifold.

  17. REMOVE STUD BOLT 
    1. Using an E5 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts.

  18. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for ACIS) 
    1. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the vacuum switching valve.

    2. Remove the bolt and vacuum switching valve.
  19. REMOVE PURGE VSV 
    1. Disconnect the purge line hose from the intake manifold.

    2. Remove the bolt and purge VSV.
  20. REMOVE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  21. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, throttle body and gasket.
