Removal [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE 
    WARNING:
    • Do not disconnect any part of the fuel system until you have discharged the fuel system pressure.
    • After discharging the fuel pressure, place a cloth or equivalent over fittings as you separate them to reduce the risk of fuel spray on yourself or in the engine compartment.
    1. Disconnect the 2 fuel pump ECU connectors.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Start the engine. After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the engine switch off.

      HINT: 

      DTC P0171/0174 (system too lean) may be stored.

    4. Crank the engine again, and then check that the engine does not start.
    5. Loosen the fuel tank cap, and then discharge the pressure in the fuel tank completely.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:
      • w/ Navigation System:

        After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

        Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
        Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
      • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2021 - 08/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2022 - ] ).
    7. Connect the 2 fuel pump ECU connectors.
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2015 - 08/2019] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - 08/2021] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2021 - 08/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2022 - ] ).

  3. REMOVE EGR VALVE BRACKET 
    1. Remove the EGR valve bracket (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 18 [08/2020 - ]

  5. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [08/2015 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [08/2020 - ]

  6. DISCONNECT NO. 4 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

      Detach the wire harness clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the No. 4 water by-pass hose.
  7. DISCONNECT NO. 3 VENTILATION HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  8. DISCONNECT NO. 1 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  9. REMOVE AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

      Disconnect the water hose.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe.

  12. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the No. 2 fuel tube from the fuel pressure regulator (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  13. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tube from the fuel delivery pipe (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

    2. Disconnect the fuel tube from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  14. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND HOSE

      Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Disconnect the purge line hose from the purge VSV.
    3. Disconnect the vacuum switching valve connector (for ACIS).
  15. DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE 
    1. Disconnect the fuel hose from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe (Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2015 - ] ).

  16. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the No. 6 wire harness connector.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and fuel delivery pipe.

      NOTE:

      When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    3. Remove the 2 delivery pipe spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.
  17. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the No. 7 wire harness connector.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 fuel delivery pipe.

      NOTE:

      When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.

    3. Remove the 2 delivery pipe spacers and 4 insulators from the intake manifold.
  18. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the fuel injector from the fuel delivery pipe, and then disconnect the injector connector.

      NOTE:

      For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the fuel injector.

    3. Detach the 3 clamps and then remove the No. 6 wire harness from the fuel delivery pipe.

    4. Detach the 3 clamps and then remove the No. 7 wire harness from the No. 2 fuel delivery pipe.
