REMOVAL (To 8/2009): Removal

  1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension) 
    NOTE:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  2. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD) 
    NOTE:

    After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
  4. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER CAP (w/ Air Suspension)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  5. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 11
  6. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 34
  7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system. Refer to PRECAUTION .

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  8. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 35
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 36
  10. REMOVE BATTERY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 37
  11. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  12. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 7
  13. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY  See step  13
  14. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  15. REMOVE NO. 1 SURGE TANK STAY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  16. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 3 wire harness clamps.

    2. Disconnect the 6 ignition coil connectors.

    3. Remove the 6 bolts and 6 ignition coils.

  17. REMOVE SPARK PLUG 
    1. Remove the 6 spark plugs.
