Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT:

    All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.

  2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter (see CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS ).
      NOTE: Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.

      HINT:

      Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column.
    3. Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
      NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 8 clips and claw.

    2. Remove the finish panel.
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 8 clips and claw.

    2. Remove the finish panel.
  6. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  7. REMOVE NO. 3 BOX PANEL 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the box panel.
  8. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE PANEL UPPER 
    1. Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.

    2. Move the shift lever to N.
    3. Remove the 2 screws.
    4. Using a screwdriver, detach the 6 clips.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    5. Remove the panel and disconnect the connectors.
  9. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER 
    1. Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
    2. Detach the 2 clips.

    3. Remove the panel and disconnect the connector.
  10. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and 2 claws.

    2. Remove the end panel and then disconnect the connector.
  11. REMOVE CONSOLE COVER LOWER 
    1. Remove the cover.
  12. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 screws.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
    3. Detach the 2 claws and remove the console box.

  13. REMOVE SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera)  (See REMOVAL )
  18. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera)  (See REMOVAL )
  19. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  20. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.

    2. Detach the 2 clips.
    3. Disconnect the connectors and remove the finish panel.
  21. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and remove the combination meter.
  22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips, and remove the side panel.

  23. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 clips and remove the moulding.

  24. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Detach the 2 claws.
    3. Disconnect the connectors and clamp, and remove the under cover.
  25. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the hole cover.
    3. Remove the 2 screws.

    4. Detach the 5 clips and claw.
    5. Remove the safety pad and then disconnect the connectors.
  26. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 6 clips, and remove the side panel.

  28. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING 
    1. Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and remove the moulding.

  29. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Detach the 4 claws.

    2. Remove the under cover and then disconnect the connector.
  30. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER  (See REMOVAL )
  31. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  32. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 5 screws.

    2. Disconnect the connector and clamp, and remove the compartment door.
  33. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET  (See REMOVAL )
  34. REMOVE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (w/o Navigation System)  (See REMOVAL )
  35. REMOVE MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for DVD)  (See REMOVAL )
  36. REMOVE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for HDD)  (See REMOVAL )
  37. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the upper 2 claws.

    3. Detach the lower 2 claws.
    4. Disconnect the connector and remove the register.
  38. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
    2. Using a moulding remover, detach the upper 2 claws.

    3. Detach the lower 2 claws.
    4. Disconnect the connector and remove the register.
  39. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH  (See REMOVAL )
  40. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH  (See REMOVAL )
  41. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  42. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  43. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  44. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  45. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER HOLE COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  46. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  47. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors and clamps.

    2. Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts.
    3. Remove the 5 bolts and nut.
    4. Detach the 5 claws and remove the safety pad.

  48. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY 
    1. Detach the 5 claws and remove the 5 stays.
