Rear Airbag Sensor: Removal

HINT

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION  ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY LH 
  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY RH 
  5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor
      NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    4. Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the rear airbag sensor.
      NOTE: Loosen the bolt while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
