Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal

- REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
HINT:
Refer to the procedure up to Remove No. 1 console box duct (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
- Check that the engine switch is off.
- Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
- Disconnect the connectorNOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE SIDE NO. 2 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Disengage the 5 hooks (A)
- Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel safety pad assembly as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE
- Disconnect the 2 airbag connectorsNOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
- Remove the 2 clamps and No 2 instrument panel wire from the front passenger airbag assembly
- Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors
