Front Airbag Sensor: Removal

HINT:

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION  ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (for LH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH (for LH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (for RH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH (for RH Side)  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Disconnect the connector from the front airbag sensor
      NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts
      NOTE: Loosen the bolt while holding the front airbag sensor because the front airbag sensor claws and pin (stopper) are easily damaged.

    5. Disengage the 2 claws and pin, and remove the front airbag sensor from the body.
