Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly: Installation

  1. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Connect the driver side knee airbag connector to the driver side knee airbag assembly
      NOTE: When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    4. Temporarily install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 2 pins.

    5. Install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

    6. Install the hood lock control cable with the claw

  2. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  8. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
