Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY" (See REMOVAL ).

  3. REMOVE SIDE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  4. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  5. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag.
      NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    2. Remove the 2 screws.

    3. Disengage the 5 hooks (A).
    4. Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag from the instrument panel.
