Section 10 (Starting (3UZ-FE)): Starter: Installation

- INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY
- Connect the starter cable with the nut.

Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)
HINT:
If coolant has accumulated on the cylinder block, wipe it off with a clean cloth.
- Install the starter cable protector with the bolt.
Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)
- Attach the terminal cap.
- Connect the starter connector.
- Install the starter with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 37 N*m (377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf)
- Connect the starter cable with the nut.
- INSTALL WATER BYPASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL REAR WATER BYPASS JOINT (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the No. 2 fuel pipe (see FUEL SYSTEM ).
- CONNECT ENGINE WIRE (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL NO. 3 V-BANK COVER BRACKET (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL NO. 2 V-BANK COVER BRACKET (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL PURGE VSV (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL V-BANK COVER BRACKET (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL NO. 4 V-BANK COVER BRACKET (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE (See INSTALLATION )
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS
- Check for fuel leaks (see FUEL SYSTEM ).
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See COOLANT )
- CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS
- Check for coolant leaks (see COOLING SYSTEM ).
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (See INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET
- Install the inlet with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
- Install the inlet with the bolt.
- REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the cover with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
- Install the cover with the 2 nuts.
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION
- Perform initialization (see
INITIALIZATION
).NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
