FUEL INJECTOR (for Port Injection): Installation

  1. INSTALL FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Apply gasoline to 2 new O-rings and install them to each injector.
      NOTE: Check that there is no damage or foreign material in the groove of the injector when installing the injector's O-rings.

    2. Install the 6 fuel injectors to the fuel delivery pipe.
      NOTE:
      • When the injector does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. Remove the injector and install a new O-ring to the injector.
      • Make sure that the injector is between the plastic stopper parts labeled A in the illustration.
  2. INSTALL FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the 4 delivery pipe spacers to the intake manifold.

    2. Install the delivery pipe (with injector) to the intake manifold.
      NOTE: When the injector does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. Remove the injector and install a new O-ring to the injector.

    3. Install the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 17 N*m (173 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

    4. Connect the 6 injector connectors and 2 clamps.

    5. Push the fuel tube connector onto the delivery pipe and push up the retainer to engage the claws.
      NOTE:
      • Check for damage or foreign objects on the connected part.
      • After connecting, check that the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by pulling on them.

    6. After connecting the fuel tube, align the paint marks on the delivery pipe.
  3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK 
    NOTE: Do not apply oil to the bolts listed below:
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION

    Tightening Parts
    Bolt for intake air surge tank and intake manifold
    Bolt for surge tank stay and intake air surge tank

    1. Install a new gasket to the intake air surge tank.
    2. Install the intake air surge tank with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the 6 bolts.

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

    4. Install the surge tank stay to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

    5. Install the water hose joint to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

    6. Connect the 4 wire harness clamps to the intake air surge tank.

    7. Connect the ventilation hose, union to check valve hose and water bypass hose to the intake air surge tank.

    8. Install the purge VSV to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf) 

    9. Connect the purge line hose to the intake air surge tank.
  4. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (See  INSPECTION  ) 
  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  6. CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  7. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  8. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  9. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  10. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  11. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  12. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  13. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  14. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  15. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  16. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (See  COOLING SYSTEM  ) 
  17. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  18. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  19. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  21. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  22. CHECK FUNCTION OF THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  23. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
