Front Wiper Motor: Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the wiper motor with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 47 in.*lbf) 

    2. Apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot of the wiper motor.

    3. Install the rod of the wiper link to the crank arm, as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the wiper motor and link assembly with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf)

    2. Connect the connector. Then attach the 2 clamps to install the wire harness to the cowl top panel.

  3. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push the ventilator louver in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. Attach the 10 claws to install the ventilator louver.

    2. Attach the 5 claws and 2 clips to install the ventilator louver.

  4. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH 
    1. Push the cowl side seal in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. Attach the 2 claws to install the cowl side seal.

  5. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  6. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2. Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
    3. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.

    4. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 22 N*m (224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT:

      Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

  7. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2. Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
    3. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.

    4. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 22 N*m (224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT:

      Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

    5. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.
  8. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH 
    1. Install the side cover with the 3 clips.

  9. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Attach the 3 clips to install the side seal.
  10. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  11. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ) 
  12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
