Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal
- PRECAUTION CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION " thoroughly before servicing (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).
- DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/o Illumination) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/ Illumination) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO.2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY
HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT"
PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY " (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER NO.3 DUCT (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2 DUCT (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Disengage the 5 hooks (A).
- Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 clamps.
- Remove the instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
