Front Passenger Airbag Assembly: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION " thoroughly before servicing (See AIRBAG SYSTEM  ).
  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/o Illumination) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/ Illumination) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE NO.2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  9. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  10. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY 

    HINT:

    Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT"

    PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY " (See REMOVAL ).

  12. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER NO.3 DUCT (See  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  13. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2 DUCT (See  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  14. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.

    2. Disengage the 5 hooks (A).
    3. Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.

    4. Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 clamps.
    5. Remove the instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
    NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
