Front LH Seat ASSY: Overhaul

CAUTION:
  • Always wear safety gloves because the edges of the seatback frame and seat adjuster are sharp and may cause injury. 
  • Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds after disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.) 
  • The yaw rate sensor is installed under the front seat RH. 

    Be careful not to step on the yaw rate sensor after the seat has been removed. 

HINT:

  1. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER FRONT LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the seat track bracket cover inner front LH by pulling it out in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

  2. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER OUTER FRONT LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the seat track bracket cover outer front LH.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER RH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the seat track cover RH.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  4. REMOVE SEAT TRACK COVER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the RH side.

  5. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the connectors under the front LH seat assy.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts and the front LH seat assy.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body.
  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY 
  7. REMOVE OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU (PASSENGER SEAT ONLY) (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  8. REMOVE RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the reclining power seat switch knob.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  9. REMOVE SLIDE & VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB 
    1. Using a screwdriver, pry out the slide & vertical power seat switch knob.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Remove the 7 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and clip, and remove the front seat cushion shield LH together with the front seat cushion shield inner LH and front seat cushion shield inner No. 1 LH.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Remove the screw and front seat cushion shield inner LH from the front seat cushion shield inner No. 1 LH.
  11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO. 1 LH 
    1. Remove the screw and front seat cushion shield inner No. 1 LH from the front seat cushion shield LH.
  12. REMOVE POWER SEAT SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SEAT ONLY) 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and power seat switch assy.
  13. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the 3 screws and front power seat switch.
  14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  15. REMOVE SEAT CUSHION COVER WITH PAD 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2. w/Seat heater:
      1. Disconnect the seat heater connectors.
    3. Disengage the hook and remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover together with the pad.
  16. REMOVE SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover.
  17. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD COVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seatback board sub-assy.

  18. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT 
    1. Remove the 2 front seat headrest supports.

  19. REMOVE SEAT ARMREST COVER LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the seat armrest cover LH.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  20. REMOVE SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt and seat armrest assy LH.
  21. REMOVE SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD 
    1. w/Side airbag:
      1. Remove the nut and the separate type front seat-back cover bracket.

    2. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover together with the pad.
  22. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER 
    1. Remove the hog rings and front seatback cover.
  23. REMOVE LH SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and LH seat reclining adjuster inside cover.
  24. REMOVE RH SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and RH seat reclining adjuster inside cover.
  25. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH 
    1. Remove the screw and reclining adjuster inside cover LH.
  26. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH 
    1. Remove the screw and reclining adjuster inside cover RH.
  27. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LOWER LH 
    1. Remove the screw and front seat cushion shield lower LH.
  28. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LOWER RH 
    1. Remove the screw and front seat cushion shield lower RH.
  29. REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY LH (DRIVER SEAT ONLY) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the 3 screws and lumbar support adjuster assy LH.
  30. REMOVE SEAT HEATER CONTROL SUB-ASSY RH (W/SEAT HEATER) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the seat heater control sub-assy RH.
  31. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (DRIVER SEAT ONLY) (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  32. REMOVE FRONT SEAT WIRE LH 
  33. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIRBAG SENSOR (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  34. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER 
    1. Install the front seatback pad.
    2. Cover the top of the front seatback pad with the front seat-back cover.
    3. Using hog ring pliers, completely install the front seatback cover with new hog rings.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.

  35. INSTALL SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD 
    1. Install the seatback cover together with the pad.
    2. w/Side airbag:
      1. Install the front seatback cover bracket with the nut.

        Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) 

        NOTE:
        • For a vehicle with side airbags, the side airbags may not be activated normally unless the seatback cover is securely installed. 
        • Check that the strap is not twisted after installing the bracket. 
        • Install the bracket securely.

    3. Install the seatback cover together with the pad with new hog rings.
  36. INSTALL SEAT ARMREST ASSY LH 
    1. Install the seat armrest assy LH with the bolt.

      Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

  37. INSTALL SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Install the seat cushion pad.
    2. Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.

  38. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  39. INSTALL OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU (PASSENGER SEAT ONLY) (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  40. INSTALL FRONT LH SEAT ASSY 
    1. Place the front LH seat assy in the cabin.
    2. Connect the connectors under the front LH seat assy.
    3. Tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the front LH seat assy.

      Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    4. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the front LH seat assy.

      Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

  41. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ) 
  42. CHECK POWER SEAT OPERATION (SEE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  43. CHECK SEAT HEATER OPERATION (W/SEAT HEATER) 
  44. INITIALIZE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (PASSENGER SEAT ONLY) (SEE  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  )
