Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY RH 
  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Remove the nut and inner belt.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH 
  8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  9. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE:
    • Removal operation concerning the seat belt with the pretensioner must be started when 90 seconds or more have passed after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the battery negative terminal is disconnected. 
    • Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt section. 
    1. Remove the nut and the outer belt on the shoulder anchor side.
    2. Disconnect the pretensioner connector, as shown in Fig 1 .

    4. Disconnect the tension reducer connector.
    5. Remove the 2 bolts on the retractor side and thoroughly remove the outer belt.
  11. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Remove the bolt and anchor adjuster.
  12. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSY 
    1. Install the adjuster with the bolt.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    1. Check the degree of tilt when beginning to lock the ELR.
      1. Check that the belt does not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions but that the belt locks with over 45° of tilt, when gently moving the retractor.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

    2. Install the outer belt with the 2 bolts on the retractor side.

      Torque: 

      • 7.5 N.m (76.5 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for upper bolt 
      • 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower bolt 
    3. Connect the pretensioner connector, as shown in Fig 3 .

    5. Connect the tension reducer connector.
    6. Install the outer belt with the nut on the shoulder anchor side.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    7. Install the outer belt with the bolt on the floor anchor side.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    8. Install the floor anchor cover.
    9. Check the ELR lock.
      NOTE: The check should be performed with the assembly installed.
      1. Check that the belt locks when pulling out the belt quickly when the belt is installed.

      If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

  14. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Install the inner belt with the nut.

      Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
