Transmission Assembly (8HP75): Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to 12 VOLT BATTERY DISCONNECT - 2.0L or BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - 5.7L .
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING - 2.0L or DRAINING - 5.7L .
- Remove the transmission belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the stiffening plate. Refer to PLATE, STIFFENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the front suspension skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - 2.0L or MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - 5.7L .
- Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
- Remove the transfer case. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - MPT3015C
or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION - TRANSFER CASE MPT3028C
.
1 - Manual Park Release Cable End 2 - Manual Park Release Cable Bracket Bolts 3 - Bracket - Disconnect the Manual Park Release (MPR) cable end from the MPR lever.
- Remove the MPR cable bracket bolts and set the MPR cable and bracket aside.
1 - Transmission Dust Cover 2 - Transmission Dust Cover Bolt - Remove the transmission dust cover bolt and dust cover.
1 - Oil Pan to Transmission Bolts 2 - Transmission to Oil Pan Bolts - Remove the oil pan to transmission bolts.
- Remove the transmission to oil pan bolts.
1 - Torque Converter Bolts - Rotate the crankshaft in a clockwise direction for access through the dust cover pocket and remove the six torque converter bolts.
1 - Starter Bolts 2 - Starter - Remove the starter bolts and position the starter aside.
1 - Transmission Wire Harness Connector - Turn the locking mechanism of the transmission wire harness connector counter-clockwise to release the lock and disconnect the transmission wire harness connector.
1 - Transmission Oil Cooler Lines - Remove the transmission oil cooler lines from the transmission.
1 - Transmission Vent Tube - Disconnect the transmission vent tube.
- Disconnect the Left O2 sensor wire harness connector(s).
- Remove the left O2 sensor bracket nut and remove the left O2 sensor bracket from the transmission.
- Disconnect the right O2 sensor wire harness connector.
- Remove the right O2 sensor bracket bolt and remove the right O2 sensor bracket from the transmission.
1 - Upper Bellhousing to Engine Bolts 2 - Upper Bellhousing to Engine Stud Bolts - Remove the upper bellhousing to engine stud bolts.
- Remove the upper bellhousing to engine bolts.
- Hold the torque converter in place during transmission removal.
- Remove the transmission from the vehicle.
1 - Extension Housing Bolts 2 - Extension Housing - If necessary, remove the extension housing bolts and remove the extension housing.
