Standard Procedure: Draining

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

HIGH TEMP COOLING SYSTEM 

WARNING:

Do not remove or loosen the coolant pressure cap, cylinder block drain plugs, or the draincock when the system is hot and under pressure because serious burns from the coolant can occur.

NOTE:

The high temp radiator drain valve is located on the front lower left side.

  1. If the vehicle is not equipped the radiator drain access cover, then remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Position a drain pan and open the drain valve and drain the high temp cooling system.

  4. Remove the high temp radiator drain access cover.

  5. Position a drain pan and open the drain valve and drain the high temp cooling system.
  6. If equipped and necessary, remove the cylinder block drain plug(s).

LOW TEMP COOLING SYSTEM 

NOTE:

The low temp radiator drain valve is located on the front lower right side.

  1. If the vehicle is not equipped the radiator drain access cover, then remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. Position a drain pan and open the drain valve and drain the low temp cooling system.

  3. Remove the radiator drain access cover.

  4. Position a drain pan and open the drain valve and drain the low temp cooling system.
