Manifold, Intake: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  4. Drain the cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  5. Remove the top and side engine covers. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the air outlet pipe from the turbocharger to the throttle body. Refer to COOLER AND HOSES, CHARGE AIR, REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the EGR valve. Refer to VALVE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL .
  9. Disconnect the EVAP purge solenoid hose and position aside, then remove the EVAP purge solenoid and the OBD vent valve. Refer to SOLENOID, EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS PURGE, REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the Temperature and Manifold Air Pressure (TMAP) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, TMAP-INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVAL .
  11. Remove the intake Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, CAMSHAFT POSITION, REMOVAL .

  12. Disengage the hose retainers (3) from the charge air cooler coolant supply (1) and return (2) hoses.
  13. Disconnect the quick connect coupling from the charge air cooler and reposition the coolant supply hose (1).
  14. Disconnect the quick connect coupling from the Y-fitting on the charge air cooler and reposition the coolant return hose (2).

  15. Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the throttle body (2).

  16. Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the charge air cooler coolant temperature sensor.
  17. Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the fuel pressure sensor.

  18. Disengage the two fuel supply hose retainers (2) from the intake manifold.
  19. Disconnect the fuel supply hose quick connect (1) near the fuel pressure sensor and reposition the fuel supply hoses.

  20. Disengage the three retainers (2) and reposition the brake vacuum hose (1).

  21. Loosen the band clamp (1) and remove the coolant supply hose (2) from the throttle body.

  22. Remove the bolt (1) and remove the Y-fitting (2) from the charge air cooler.

  23. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  24. Remove the two bolts (1) securing the lower portion of the intake manifold to the bottom of the cylinder head.

  25. Lower the vehicle.
  26. Support the powertrain with a suitable jack.
  27. Remove the three right engine mount isolator to bracket bolts (1).
  28. Move the right side of the engine down and forward.

  29. Remove the five bolts (1) securing the top portion of the intake manifold to the top of the cylinder head.

  30. Pull the intake manifold away from the engine, loosen the band clamp (2) and remove the hose (1) from the turbocharger coolant supply pipe.
  31. Remove the intake manifold and hose (1) from the vehicle.

  32. Remove and discard the intake seals (1).

  33. If required, remove the bolts (1) and remove the throttle body (2).

  34. If the throttle body was removed, remove and discard the throttle body gasket (1).

  35. If required, loosen the band clamp (1) and remove the fuel vapor pipe (2).

  36. If required, remove the push-nuts (1) and remove the heat shield (2).

  37. If required, remove the nuts (2) and remove the mounting bracket (1).

  38. If required, remove the screws (1) and remove the EVAP solenoid valve and OBD vent valve mounting brackets (2).

  39. If require, remove the side engine cover rubber isolators (1).
