Manifold, Intake: Removal
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the top and side engine covers. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the air outlet pipe from the turbocharger to the throttle body. Refer to COOLER AND HOSES, CHARGE AIR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the EGR valve. Refer to VALVE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the EVAP purge solenoid hose and position aside, then remove the EVAP purge solenoid and the OBD vent valve. Refer to SOLENOID, EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS PURGE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the Temperature and Manifold Air Pressure (TMAP) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, TMAP-INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVAL .
- Remove the intake Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor. Refer to SENSOR, CAMSHAFT POSITION, REMOVAL
.
- Disengage the hose retainers (3) from the charge air cooler coolant supply (1) and return (2) hoses.
- Disconnect the quick connect coupling from the charge air cooler and reposition the coolant supply hose (1).
- Disconnect the quick connect coupling from the Y-fitting on the charge air cooler and reposition the coolant return hose (2).
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the throttle body (2).
- Disconnect the electrical connection (1) from the charge air cooler coolant temperature sensor.
- Disconnect the electrical connection (2) from the fuel pressure sensor.
- Disengage the two fuel supply hose retainers (2) from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the fuel supply hose quick connect (1) near the fuel pressure sensor and reposition the fuel supply hoses.
- Disengage the three retainers (2) and reposition the brake vacuum hose (1).
- Loosen the band clamp (1) and remove the coolant supply hose (2) from the throttle body.
- Remove the bolt (1) and remove the Y-fitting (2) from the charge air cooler.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the two bolts (1) securing the lower portion of the intake manifold to the bottom of the cylinder head.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Support the powertrain with a suitable jack.
- Remove the three right engine mount isolator to bracket bolts (1).
- Move the right side of the engine down and forward.
- Remove the five bolts (1) securing the top portion of the intake manifold to the top of the cylinder head.
- Pull the intake manifold away from the engine, loosen the band clamp (2) and remove the hose (1) from the turbocharger coolant supply pipe.
- Remove the intake manifold and hose (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove and discard the intake seals (1).
- If required, remove the bolts (1) and remove the throttle body (2).
- If the throttle body was removed, remove and discard the throttle body gasket (1).
- If required, loosen the band clamp (1) and remove the fuel vapor pipe (2).
- If required, remove the push-nuts (1) and remove the heat shield (2).
- If required, remove the nuts (2) and remove the mounting bracket (1).
- If required, remove the screws (1) and remove the EVAP solenoid valve and OBD vent valve mounting brackets (2).
- If require, remove the side engine cover rubber isolators (1).
