REMOVAL
WARNING:
To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of heavy duty rubber gloves should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.
WARNING:
Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.
- Position the driver seat fully forward and fully raised.
- Remove the rear heat floor duct. Refer to DUCT, FLOOR DISTRIBUTION, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the Intelligent Battery Sensor-1 (IBS1). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS) [EZH], REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

1 - Positive Battery Cable End Nut 2 - Battery Vent Tube 3 - Battery - Loosen the positive battery cable end nut and remove the positive battery cable.
- Remove the battery vent tube.
1 - Battery Hold-Down Bolts/Nuts 2 - Battery Hold-Down - Remove the fasteners from the battery hold-down. Remove the battery hold-down that secures the battery to the tray.
1 - Battery - Remove the battery from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION

- Position the battery for installation.
1 - Battery Hold-Down Bolts/Nuts 2 - Battery Hold-Down - Position the battery hold-down in place, and install and tighten the fasteners to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the battery thermal cover over the battery.
1 - Positive Battery Cable End Nut 2 - Battery Vent Tube 3 - Battery - Connect the positive battery cable and tighten the positive battery cable nut to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the battery vent tube.
- Install the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS). Refer to SENSOR, INTELLIGENT BATTERY (IBS) [EZH], REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Install the rear heat floor duct. Refer to DUCT, FLOOR DISTRIBUTION, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
