Removal And Installation: Installation

CAUTION:

Use care when installing the caliper onto the disc brake adapter to avoid damaging the guide pin boots.

NOTE:

Installation process is the same for both sides of the vehicle.

  1. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper adapter bracket.
  2. While keeping the guide pins from turning, install the caliper guide pin bolts (4) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the brake line (6) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Install the Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator. Refer to ACTUATOR, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE, INSTALLATION  .
  5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8. Remove the brake pedal holding tool.
  9. Bleed the brakes. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure the vehicle has a firm brake pedal before moving the vehicle.
    NOTE:

    Be sure to exit Service Mode either with scan tool or by customer method of applying the EPB switch with the brake pedal depressed at the same time, before road testing. 

  11. Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake pads.
