Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. If the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module was removed from the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Refer to MODULE, ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  2. Position the Integrated Control Unit (ICU) to the ICU bracket (1c), and tighten the ICU to ICU bracket fasteners (1a) (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  3. Position the ICU into the vehicle, and tighten the ICU to body fastener (1b), fastener (1c), and the fastener (not pictured) which is located below and to the rear of the ICU bracket to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the brake tubes (1) to the HCU and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. Connect the ICU electrical connector (2).

  6. Install the primary and secondary brake tubes (1) to the master cylinder, and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Install the primary and secondary brake tubes (1) to the HCU, and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Install the rubber dust shield to the Integrated Control Unit (ICU).
  9. Install the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, INSTALLATION .
  10. Fill and bleed out braking system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
    NOTE:

    If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.

    NOTE:

    If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). This will confirm that the module is updated to the latest applicable software level.

  11. Perform the verification test. Refer to ABS VERIFICATION TEST .
