Cover, Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Lower the steering column in the vehicle. Refer to COLUMN, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the left and right side cowl trim panel. Refer to PANEL, COWL TRIM, SIDE, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the radio. Refer to RADIO, REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the instrument panel storage bin. Refer to BIN, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
  8. Remove the A-pillar trim panels. Refer to PANEL, A-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
  9. Unclip the HVAC ducts on left and right A-pillars.

  10. Using trim stick or equivalent, separate the retaining clips and remove the defroster grille (1).
  11. Disconnect and remove the center dash speaker.

  12. Remove the right silencer panel (1).
  13. Remove the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL .
  14. Remove the instrument panel cover screws around the center dash, around the perimeter, and around the passenger air bag support from the instrument panel reinforcement.
  15. Remove the two bolts at each end of the defroster grill opening. The bolts are deep in the instrument panel.
  16. Remove the instrument panel cover from the instrument panel reinforcement disconnecting any electrical connectors as needed.
  17. Remove and transfer any parts from the cover as necessary.
