WARNING:

The normal operating temperature of the exhaust system is very high. Therefore, never work around or attempt to service any part of the exhaust system until it has cooled. Special care should be taken when working near the catalytic converter. The temperature of the converter rises to a high level after a short period of engine operation time.

  1. Remove the engine from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL .

  2. Remove the oil cooler adapter. Refer to ADAPTER, OIL COOLER, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the bolts (1) and the left exhaust manifold heat shield (2).

  4. Remove the bolts (2) and the exhaust manifold pipe to turbocharger heat shield (1).
  5. Remove the turbocharger-to-cowl extension heat shield.

  6. Remove the three nuts (1) from the exhaust manifold pipe to turbocharger.

  7. Remove the nuts (1) and the left exhausts manifold (2).
  8. Remove and discard the gaskets.
