Right Cylinder Head

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the glow plugs.
  5. Remove the right side intake and exhaust camshaft shafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the followers and tappets and note their original position.

  7. Remove the bolts (1, 2) securing the coolant tube (3) to the back of the cylinder head.
  8. Remove the water pump housing assembly. Refer to PUMP, WATER, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    Do Not store the cylinder head on the sealing surface.

  9. Remove the bolts (1) and the cylinder head (2) from the engine block (5) and discard head bolts.
  10. Remove and the head gasket (3).
