Turbocharger System: Turbocharger: Removal

  1. Remove the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the right side exhaust manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .

  3. Remove the lower EGR cooler tube bolts (2).

  4. Remove the bolts (1) and the lower EGR cooler tube (2).

  5. Disconnect the turbocharger outlet temperature sensor wire harness connector (1).

  6. Remove the bolts (2) and the turbocharger outlet elbow (1).
  7. Disconnect the turbocharger actuator wire harness connector.

  8. Remove the banjo bolt (2) at the engine block for the turbocharger oil supply line (3).

  9. Remove the upper banjo bolt (1) and the turbocharger oil supply line (2).

  10. Remove the upper banjo bolt (1) securing coolant tube (3) to turbocharger.

  11. Remove the lower banjo bolt (1) securing coolant tube (2) to turbocharger.

  12. Remove the turbocharger mounting bolts (3).
    NOTE:

    The turbocharger oil return line is fitted into a rubber grommet on the engine block. Care must be used when removing the turbocharger, that the return line is not damaged.

  13. With care, lift the turbocharger upwards and away from the engine block, to remove the turbocharger oil return tube from the engine block.

  14. If necessary, remove the bolts (4) and the turbocharger oil return line (3).
  15. If necessary, remove and discard the gasket (2).
