Manifold, Intake: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover (1).
- Remove air intake hose to the turbocharger.
- Remove the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose at the resonator.
- Remove the CAC hose from the turbocharger (2) to the resonator.
- Remove the resonator (3).
- Remove the wiring harness loom ball stud fastener (2) and the bolt (6).NOTE:
The crossover fuel tube is a one time use only. The fuel tube must be discarded and a NEW tube must be installed.
- Remove the bolt (2) that secures the cross-over fuel tube to the intake manifold.
- Remove the fuel rail cross-over tube (1) and discard.
- Disconnect the turbocharger outlet temperature sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Remove the bolts and the turbocharger outlet elbow.
- Remove the EGR air flow control valve (2). Refer to VALVE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) AIRFLOW CONTROL, REMOVAL .
- Remove the upper EGR tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the EGR solenoid vacuum lines.
- Detach the vacuum brake booster tube from top of intake manifold.
- Remove the engine wiring harness and position aside.
- Remove the bolts (2) and the fuel injection pump blocker shield (1).
- Remove the left side high pressure feed tube (11).
- Detach the fuel injector return line from top of intake manifold.
- Remove the left side fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL
.CAUTION:
Do Not rest the intake manifold on the swirl valve actuator. Care must be taken when handling the swirl valve assembly.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the intake manifold.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
