Installation - 2.0L, 2.2L, 2.4L

  1. Remove the tape or plugs from the suction/discharge line fitting and the compressor port.
  2. Lubricate new seals with clean refrigerant oil and install the new seals on the suction/discharge manifold. Use only the specified seal as it is made of a special material for the refrigerant in the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
  3. Install the lower A/C suction/discharge manifold (1) to the A/C compressor, then install and tighten the nut (2) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Remove the tape or plugs from the upper suction line fitting.
  5. Lubricate a new seal with clean refrigerant oil and install the new seal on the suction line fitting. Use only the specified seal as it is made of a special material for the refrigerant in the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
  6. Install the lower A/C lower suction line (4) to the upper A/C suction line (2) and tighten the nut (3) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  7. Remove the tape or plugs from the discharge line fitting.
  8. Lubricate a new seal with clean refrigerant oil and install the new seal on the discharge line fitting. Use only the specified seal as it is made of a special material for the refrigerant in the system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
  9. Attach the discharge line (2) to the liquid line manifold (3).

  10. Install the A/C discharge/liquid line manifold (2) to the A/C condenser, then install and tighten the nut (3) to the proper torque. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
  12. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION:

    Do NOT run the engine with a vacuum pump in operation or with a vacuum present within the A/C system. Failure to follow this caution will result in serious A/C compressor damage.

  14. Evacuate the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  15. Adjust the refrigerant oil level. Refer to OIL, REFRIGERANT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  16. Charge the A/C system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
