Removal -2.4L

WARNING:

Review the safety precautions and warnings before performing this procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
  4. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  5. Remove the nut (3) and the A/C discharge/liquid line manifold (2) from the A/C condenser.

  6. Detach the discharge line (2) from manifold (3). Remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket (1).
  7. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser and discharge line ports.

  8. Remove the nut (2) securing the front liquid line (1) and bracket to the frame rail.

  9. Remove the nut (3) and disconnect the lower suction line (4) from the upper suction line (2).
  10. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings.
  11. Remove the nut (1) securing the liquid and upper suction line bracket.

  12. Disconnect the pressure transducer wire harness connector (1).
  13. If necessary, remove the pressure transducer (2).

  14. Remove the nut (1) securing the liquid and suction line bracket (2).

  15. Remove the nut (4) and detach the A/C liquid (1) and suction line manifold (5) from the A/C expansion valve. Remove and discard the seals.
  16. Remove the A/C liquid (1) and suction line (5) assembly from the engine compartment.
  17. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and the expansion valve ports.
