Manifold, Intake: Removal

  1. Remove the engine cover (1) from the ball studs (2).
  2. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the cowl plenum extension and cowl plenum panel. Refer to COVER, COWL PANEL, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  6. Remove the air cleaner resonator (3). .

  7. Unlock and disconnect the MAP sensor wire harness connector (2).
  8. Disengage the wire harness from the manifold eyelets (1).

  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  10. Remove the front and rear skid plates if equipped.
  11. Remove the belly pan if equipped.
  12. Remove the flange nuts (4) and flange gasket (5). Discard the gasket.
  13. Remove the pipe support bolt (3) and reposition the cross-under pipe (2).

  14. Remove the intake manifold support bracket nuts (1).
  15. Remove the intake manifold support bracket bolt (2).
  16. Remove the intake manifold support bracket (3).
  17. Lower the vehicle.

  18. Remove the throttle body support bracket nut (1).
  19. Remove the throttle body support bracket bolt (3).
  20. Remove the throttle body support bracket (2).

  21. Remove the throttle body fasteners (1 & 2) and remove the throttle body (3).

  22. Remove the air cleaner body bracket nuts (2) from the right frame rail (3) and remove the bracket (1).

  23. Remove the bolts (4) and reposition the pressurized coolant bottle (3).

  24. Remove the two right engine mount to frame rail bolts (2).
  25. Remove the right engine mount to strut tower bolt (4).

  26. Move the right side of the engine forward approximately 3 inches (1).

  27. Disengage the intake manifold wire harness retainers.
  28. Disconnect the purge vapor line (2).
  29. Disconnect the fuel line (1) from the fuel rail. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  30. Cut the injector silencer pad at the score line (1).
  31. Remove the injector silencer pad.

  32. Unlock and disconnect the fuel injector wire harness connectors (1).
  33. Unlock and disconnect the four VVAA solenoid wire harness connectors.

  34. Remove the intake manifold silencer cover screws (1) and remove the cover.

  35. Disconnect the vacuum hoses at the intake manifold (3).

  36. Remove the intake manifold nuts (1).
  37. Remove the intake manifold bolts (2).
  38. Remove the intake manifold by lifting upward and out of the engine bay.
