Rear Catalytic Converter

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air intake resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .

  3. Disconnect the upstream (1) and the downstream (2) oxygen sensor harness connectors.

  4. Remove the upstream (5) and downstream (3) oxygen sensors.

  5. Remove the upper support bracket bolt (1).
  6. If equipped with FWD  , remove the right side intermediate shaft. Refer to REMOVAL .
  7. Remove the lower engine belly pan Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .

  8. Remove the lower intermediate shaft support bracket (1).
  9. Remove the Y-pipe. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .

  10. Remove the catalytic converter to cylinder head upper flange bolts (5).
  11. If quipped with AWD  , remove the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
  12. Remove the catalytic converter by lifting and sliding the flange up and away from the cylinder head.
