Measuring Valve Lash: Notes

  1. Remove engine cover.
  2. Remove cylinder head cover. See REMOVAL .

  3. Rotate camshaft so lobes are vertical (1).
  4. Check clearance using feeler gauges.
  5. Repeat for all tappets and record readings.
  6. If clearance was too small, refer to CLEARANCE TOO SMALL .
  7. If clearance was too large, refer to CLEARANCE TOO LARGE .
