Test TC-167A - Governor Pressure Sensor Volts Too Low DTC 45/P1764)

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, you should refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . You should also perform the VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A after each repair.

Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read GOV PRESSURE voltage. If voltage is 0.0-3.8 volts, perform TEST TC-167B . If voltage is not 0.0-3.8 volts, go to next step.
Wiggle wiring harness from PCM to governor pressure sensor while monitoring GOV PRESSURE voltage. If voltage changes while wiggling wiring harness, repair short to ground in governor pressure sensor signal circuit. If voltage does not change, go next step.
Condition required to set DTC is not present at this time. GOVERNOR PRESSURE SENSOR VOLTS TOO LOW DTC sets if governor pressure sensor input is less than 0.1 volt for 8.36 seconds. Possible causes are: defective PCM, internally shorted or open, incorrectly wired, dirty or corroded connector, or open or shorted wiring. Go to next step. Test is complete. See INACTIVE DTC CONDITION .
