Test 12A - Governor Pressure Solenoid Circuit (DTC 21)

NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

. Perform TEST 3A - VERIFICATION TEST
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure and record voltage at terminal No. E16 on TCM connector. If voltage is more than 1 volt, go to step 4). If voltage is 1 volt or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Use external ohmmeter. Measure resistance between terminals No. E16 and F16 on TCM connector. If resistance is 3-8 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is not 3-8 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. F16 on TCM connector. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at terminal No. E16 on TCM connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open governor pressure solenoid control circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM.
- Disconnect transmission 8-pin connector. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. Measure voltage at terminal No. 4 on 8-pin connector. If voltage is more than 1 volt, repair governor pressure solenoid circuit for short to battery voltage. If voltage is less than 1 volt, replace governor pressure solenoid.
