Test 10A - Overdrive Off Switch Circuit (DTC 17)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM
. Perform TEST 3A - VERIFICATION TEST
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at terminal No. E5 on TCM connector. Monitor resistance reading while depressing and releasing (2-3 times) OD OFF switch. If resistance changes, replace TCM. If resistance does not change, go to next step.
- Disconnect OD OFF switch connector. Measure resistance at terminal No. 6 on OD OFF switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair OD switch sense circuit for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Use external ohmmeter. Measure resistance between terminal No. E5 on TCM connector and terminal No. 6 on OD OFF switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace OD OFF switch. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open OD switch sense circuit.
