Test 7A - Left Rear Sensor Signal Failure

NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A before proceeding.
- If LEFT REAR SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE DTC is also set, go to TEST 6A - LEFT REAR SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE . If LEFT REAR SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE DTC is not also set, go to next step.
- Have an assistant drive vehicle. While assistant is driving vehicle, use scan tool to observe left rear wheel speed sensor. Slowly accelerate as straight as possible from a stop to 15 MPH. If left rear wheel speed sensor signal shows zero MPH or lags behind other sensors more than 3 MPH, go to step 5). If left rear wheel speed sensor signal does not show zero MPH nor lags behind other sensors more than 3 MPH, go to next step.
- Conditions required to set DTC are not present at this time. All SENSOR SIGNAL FAILURE DTCs set if during an ABS stop Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) commands any valve solenoid on for an extended length of time and does not see a corresponding wheel speed change. Possible causes are: missing tone wheel, wheel sensor not properly installed, failed wheel speed sensor, long ABS stops on ice, CAB failure or operating vehicle on a hoist or chassis dynamometer. Go to next step.
- Inspect brake linings for contamination or overheating. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If no problems are found with brake linings, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-1A.
- Inspect left rear wheel speed sensor. If wheel speed sensor is not loose or damaged, go to next step. If wheel speed sensor is loose or damaged, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST .
- Inspect left rear tone wheel for damaged or missing teeth. Replace as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If tone wheel is okay, go to next step.
- Using a feeler gauge, check sensor air gap in at least 4 places. Clearance should be .036-.057" (.92-1.45 mm). Repair air gap as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If air gap is okay, go to next step.
- Inspect wheel bearings for excessive clearance or runout. Replace wheel bearings as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If wheel bearings are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. CAB is located near air cleaner housing. Inspect CAB connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CAB connector terminals No. 2 (Light Green/Dark Blue wire) and No. 10 (Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 200 ohms, repair left rear wheel speed sensor wires for shorting together. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is 200 ohms or more, replace left rear wheel speed sensor. Perform TEST VER-1A.
