Test 10A - Pump Motor Circuit Not Working Properly

NOTE: Perform TEST 1A - CHECKING SYSTEM FOR DTCS  before proceeding.
  1. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If CAB POWER FEED CIRCUIT DTC is also set, go TEST 11A - CAB BLOCK FEED FAILURE  . If CAB POWER FEED CIRCUIT DTC is not also set, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition on, and then off. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT NOT WORKING PROPERLY DTC returns, go to step 6). If PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT WORKING PROPERLY DTC does not return, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ACTUATORS, select PUMP. Place hand on pump then enable pump using scan tool. If pump/motor does not operate, go to step 6). If pump/motor operates, go to next step.
  4. Conditions required to set DTC are not present at this time. PUMP MOTOR CIRCUIT NOT WORKING PROPERLY DTC sets if Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) detects pump/motor cannot run when commanded to do so. Possible causes are: loose connections, pump/motor fuse open, disconnected pump/motor connector, failed pump/motor, CAB failure, open pump/motor ground circuit, or short to voltage in pump/motor supply circuit. Go to next step.
  5. Using wiring diagram as a guide, inspect ABS system wiring and connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAM  . Repair problems as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If no problems are identified, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-1A.
  6. If ABS pump/motor is running continuously, replace Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB). CAB is located near air cleaner housing. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If ABS pump/motor is not running continuously, go to next step.
  7. Check ABS pump/motor fuse in Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Fig 1 . If fuse is blown, check for short to ground in fused B+ circuit (Red/Dark Blue wire). Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If no short is found, replace faulty ABS pump/motor fuse. Perform TEST VER-1A. If fuse is okay, go to next step.

  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS pump/motor 2-pin connector from Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB). CAB is located near air cleaner. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  9. Disconnect CAB connector. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  10. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 25 (Red/Dark Green wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Red/Dark Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  11. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between ground, CAB connector ground terminals No. 8 and 24 (Black wires), and battery ground. If resistance is less than 10 ohms between all circuits, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more between any circuits, repair open ground circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  12. Disconnect pump/motor connector. Connect a jumper wire between CAB connector terminal No. 25 (Red/Dark Green wire) and pump/motor terminal No. 2 (Red wire). Connect another jumper wire between CAB connector terminal No. 24 (Black wire) and pump/motor connector terminal No. 1 (Tan wire). If pump/motor operates, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If pump/motor does not operate, replace pump/motor. Perform TEST VER-1A.
