Test 11A - Liftgate Latch Sense Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see Figure .
NOTE: Perform TEST 1A  before proceeding.
  1. Ensure liftgate is closed. Using DRB, read DOOR AJAR status. If DRB displays CLOSED, go to TEST 9A  . If DRB does not display CLOSED, open liftgate and disconnect liftgate latch switch connector. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed and go to next step.
  2. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of latch switch ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open latch switch ground circuit (Black wire). Perform TEST VER-1A  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Connect a jumper wire between liftgate latch switch connector terminals No. 2 (Tan/Black wire) and No. 3 (Black wire). Using DRB, read DOOR AJAR status. If DRB displays CLOSED, replace liftgate latch switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB does not display CLOSED, locate the VTA module connector and go to next step. Refer to VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Without disconnecting VTA module connector, using a jumper wire backprobe VTA module connector terminal No. 10 (Tan/Black wire) to ground. Using DRB, read DOOR AJAR switch status. If DRB displays CLOSED, repair open liftgate latch sense circuit (Tan/Black wire). Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB does not display CLOSED, replace VTA module. Perform TEST VER-1A  .
