Test 9A - Repairing Door Jamb Sense Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see Figure .
NOTE: Perform TEST 1A  before proceeding.
  1. Ensure all doors, hood and liftgate are closed. Ensure all courtesy, dome and cargo lights function properly and go to next step.
  2. Using DRB, check DOOR AJAR status. If DRB does not display CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB displays CLOSED, disconnect left front door jamb switch. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Check DOOR AJAR status. If DRB does not display CLOSED, replace door jamb switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB displays CLOSED, repeat this test at left rear door, right front door, and the right rear door. Perform TEST VER-1A  . When DRB displays CLOSED at last door switch, proceed to step 4).
  3. Ensure ignition switch is off. Disconnect VTA mod. See Figure in TEST 1A and see VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check door jamb sense circuit voltage at VTA module connector terminal No. 8 (Yellow wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open door jamb sense circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace the VTA module and perform TEST VER-1A  .
  4. Disconnect liftgate latch sense switch. See Fig 1 . Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Using DRB, check door jamb switch status. If DRB displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace liftgate latch sense switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  .

  5. Ensure ignition is off and disconnect VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A and see VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage at VTA module connector terminal No. 8 (Yellow wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open door jamb sense circuit (Yellow wire) and go to next step.
  6. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance at VTA module connector terminal No. 10 (Tan/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in liftgate latch sense circuit (Tan/Black wire). Perform TEST VER-1A  .
  7. If no repairs have been done, replace VTA module. See VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If repairs were done, perform TEST VER-1A  .
