Test NS-7E - Inspecting Idle Air Control Motor Operation

NOTE: Perform TEST NS-7A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  at beginning of article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Inspect all terminals. Repair as necessary. If PCM terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of No. 2 driver circuit (Yellow/Black wire on XJ and YJ bodies or Brown/White wire on ZJ body) between IAC motor connector and PCM connector terminal No. 60 on XJ and YJ bodies or terminal No. 40 on ZJ body. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in No. 2 driver circuit.
