Pinpoint Test F: Power Tailgate Actuator Test
- F1: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- With the tailgate in the fully closed position operate a tailgate release switch and check to see if the latch releases.
Did the tailgate latch release?
Yes : GO to F2.
No : GO to PINPOINT TEST D .
- F2: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- Observe the operation of the tailgate
Does the tailgate stop immediately after latch release? Are three audible beeps heard from the RGTM ?
Yes : GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
No : GO to F3.
- F3: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- Open the tailgate manually to a fully open position. Then press and hold the tailgate close switch for 10 seconds until a beep is heard from the RGTM . Manually fully close the tailgate and open by pressing the exterior switch.
Does the tailgate open to it's full extent?
Yes : Close the tailgate and repeat the opening operation 5 times to make sure the failure mode is eliminated. If the tailgate operates correctly, refer the customer to the Jaguar Land Rover owner information for powered tailgate opening height.
No : GO to F4.
- F4: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- Refer to the appropriate electrical circuit diagrams and disconnect both of the tailgate strut harness connections and remove the wiring from the tailgate. With appropriate assistance support the tailgate and disconnect both strut ball spigots from the tailgate side, rest the struts in the drain trough. Open and close the tailgate through it's throw of operation manually.
Does the tailgate travel freely without obstruction?
Yes : GO to F5.
No
- F5: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- With assistance reconnect the right hand tailgate strut to the ball spigot on the tailgate, open and close the tailgate through it's throw of operation manually.
Does the tailgate travel freely without obstruction?
Yes : GO to F6.
No : Replace the right tailgate strut as necessary REFER to: TAILGATE STRUT .
- F6: POWER TAILGATE ACTUATOR TEST
- With assistance disconnect the right hand strut from the ball spigot on the tailgate. Reconnect the left hand tailgate strut to the ball spigot on the tailgate, open and close the tailgate through it's throw of operation manually.
Does the tailgate travel freely without obstruction?
Yes : GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
No : Replace the left tailgate strut as necessary REFER to: TAILGATE STRUT .
