Installation Procedure

IMPORTANT:
The support bolts threads and the threaded holes of the knuckle must be free of residue and debris prior to reapplication of threadlocker in order to ensure proper adhesion and fastener retention.
- Install the support.
Prepare the bolts and the threaded holes for assembly:
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- Thoroughly clean the residue from the threaded holes by using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply threadlocker GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to two-thirds of the threaded length of the lower caliper bracket bolts. Ensure that there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the bolts.
- Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately ten minutes before installation.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section. - Install the support bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the support bolts to 111 N.m (82 lb ft).
- Install the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement
- Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (J55)
- Install the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to
- Install the brake rotor. Refer to REAR BRAKE ROTOR REPLACEMENT (J55) or REAR BRAKE ROTOR REPLACEMENT (JL9)
- Install the park brake cable to the mounting bracket until the locking tabs snap into place.
- Install the park brake cable to the brake caliper lever.
- Pull down on the front park brake cable and connect the intermediate cable from the connector.
- Install the caliper and mounting bracket as an assembly. Refer to REAR DISC BRAKE PADS REPLACEMENT (J55) or REAR DISC BRAKE PADS REPLACEMENT (JL9)
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Lower the vehicle.
