Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
    2. CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Remove the hush and knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Cadillac) or Knee Bolster Replacement (Except Cadillac) .
  4. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  5. Remove the theft deterrent control module. Refer to Theft Deterrent Module Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the passlock and key buzzer from the ignition lock cylinder case.
  7. Insert J 42759  into the ignition lock cylinder case to release the tabs on the ignition switch. See Special Tools .
  8. Pull the ignition switch out of the ignition lock cylinder case.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch.
